submitted by: child@oasis.novia.net (Lillian C., Omaha, Nebraska) French toast--what fond childhood memories I have of this delightful breakfast entree! Over the years, I've discovered that there's more to french toast that egg and bread. Here's what I've done to improve on the basic recipe:

Using whisk, stir together eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla until light. Dip bread slice into egg mixture and coat well. Now, you can deep fry this in a large pan of hot oil, or you can pan fry in little or no oil, depending on how healthy you want the breakfast to be. Brown completely, drain off excess oil, and dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup. Or ... mix some cream cheese with orange marmalade and sandwich between two pieces of french toast and hold the syrup. Delicious either way! Enjoy!!
