Brandied Strawberries
INGREDIENTS:
3 c Brown sugar 1 ts Allspice, whole
(one 1-lb box) 1/2 ts Whole cloves
1 1/2 c Boiling water 1 Zest of 1 orange or lemon
1 Or 2 cinnamon sticks 1 ts Maple extract; optional
-- broken in pieces 1/4 ts Almond extract

Mix brown sugar and water together. Add whole spices and citrus zest. Cover and let steep for several hours. Taste to see if spicy enough and if so strain into container with cover. Stir in maple and almond extracts. Store in refrigerator. Makes 2 cups.
(Author's Note) Try this and store-bought syrup will not satisfy you again. Recipe is flexible and you should feel free to adjust to your taste by varying the flavors.
